Edward Mooney
June 24, 1989 - January 11, 2020
Edward (Ed) is my only child. He suffered from Schizoaffective Disorder/Bipolar, along with the addiction that usually accompanied it. Ed was in a program in Farmingville and he was doing very well for quite a while. In the last month or so, he dealt with dental work (oral surgery and complications) followed by ACL/Meniscus repair. I thought he was handling it well and felt comfortable when he said he was going to Mastic with friends (to go to the reservation for cigarettes). Dropping him off to meet his ride, crutches and all, was the last time I saw him alive. A so called ‘friend’, who claims she loved him and wouldn’t ever hurt him, ended his life. He had not used anything in so long that whatever she gave him, it was too much for his body to handle.
Ed, who had the biggest, brightest green eyes, was was not only my son, but my best friend as well. We got along so well (most of the time) and actually enjoyed spending time together.
He was so talented, he could play any instrument he picked up. He taught guitar, drums, keyboard and bass. He was in several bands as well. He leaves behind 2 beautiful children, a 4 year old son and a 2 year old daughter that is the apple of his eye. He enjoyed his time with his children and loved to show them off. I miss him so very much.
